Performance Based Design Brief (PBDB)
Before any analysis begins, we get every stakeholder to agree — in writing — on what's being assessed and what 'pass' looks like.
11/When you need this
- A performance solution has been identified and the assessment scope needs to be agreed before work begins
- The building surveyor, fire authority or peer reviewer has requested a documented PBDB
- Stakeholders need a shared, signed-off basis for the subsequent Fire Engineering Report
- Design fire scenarios and acceptance criteria need to be defined and agreed up front

11/What we do
- 01Identification of DtS departures and the relevant NCC Performance Requirements
- 02Selection of assessment methods under the NCC governing requirements
- 03Design fire scenarios, occupant characteristics and tenability criteria
- 04Acceptance criteria and analysis methodology agreed in writing
- 05Circulation and sign-off by the building surveyor, fire authority, client and design team
- 06Issued as a standalone PBDB report forming the basis of the subsequent Fire Engineering Report
